Developments In Air Craft Paint Stripper Technology

Paint stripping of aircraft is done periodically. This is carried out to prevent any inter granular corrosion of the metallic surfaces of a planes exteriors. . The paint stripper which is viscous in nature is applied to the aircraft's body. A lot of wastewater is formed when the paint stripper is rinsed off. The requirement and the cost of on-site treatment of phenolic aircraft paint is quiet high. This has resulted in the need to develop a non phenolic paint stripper that can be used effectively on the aircraft. The pain stripper which is non-phenolic will help to remove polyurethane and epoxy paint.

A study was also conducted by Air Force Weapons Laboratory to find if available biological treatment was effective in treating the wastewater generated when non phenolic paint stripper was rinsed off.

The results have indicated that biological treatment processes are satisfactory only if the methylene chloride concentration is reduced and if the chemical oxygen demand contribution from the paint stripper does not exceed 200 mg/l.

D-Zolve™ GL 15-33LO-R is an effective aircraft paint stripper and remover. It can either be sprayed or brushed on to a surface. It has a high viscosity with cling on properties which makes it strong and tenacious. It is approved for use by the U.S. Air Force.
