Maintaining The Airplane Livery Properly
An aircraft just out of the factory looks pretty bland with its drab black or metallic shades. Yet when you see a plane, you see it decorated tastefully with the carrier's livery. Livery has made the plane not just the workhorse of airlines but also their most effective brand vehicle. By seeing the exterior of the plane, people can identify its owner. They can even guess what level of luxury to expect. It is for this reason that aircraft paint is properly maintained and the livery of craft is among the first to change in case the airline rebrands.

Why is the maintenance of aircraft paint important?
Apart from brand projection in the form of livery, the aircraft paint performs various key tasks. The paint is responsible for protection of the craft's airframe from corrosion. The airframe is the main hull of the airplane and it simply cannot be compromised. Any negligence in this regard can only lead to disasters. Aircraft paint is also meant to protect the plane from extreme temperature. On any regular flight, the temperature outside the plane reaches 50 degrees centigrade below zero. In such cases, the paint supplements the thermostat and helps control in-plane temperature. However such low temperature also makes the paint chip and fall off. Hence aircraft maintenance crews regularly use aircraft paint stripper to clean off the chipped parts and repaint the area.

The fact that an aircraft flies at very high altitude means that it is exposed to very large amount of short wave radiation. In addition to this, these levels of atmosphere have a lot of dew, the atmospher-ic pressure changes very fast and very frequently. All these conditions can have negative impact on the super structure of the aircraft. The paint acts as the shield for the plane. If not maintained proper-ly, it may lead to disastrous consequences.

All in all the aircraft paint is its first line of defense against the forces of nature and the gloss which gives it a glamorous look and its individual identity. Regular and diligent maintenance of aircraft paint is therefore extremely important and in the best interest of maintaining its long life.
